Artist Bio: Becky Chase is a Maine-based painter and illustrator who is self-taught. Her works explore repetitive line work or color interruptions between bubblegum pastel and dour neutrals, using fluid shape. In 2015, Becky also published the popular adult coloring book Downeast Daydream: A Maine Coloring Vacation, which was featured in Maine Today and Downeast Magazine.
Artist Statement: "My paintings are preoccupied with linework and limited color palettes to evoke a restrained effervescence: pastels and neon hues are held in place, and sometimes crossed, by mature neutrals. With these choices, I recall memories of how adolescence - its bright, buoyant, and often erratic audacity - is gradually tempered by humbling lessons of adulthood."
